Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail, but to seem as being sent from another one, generally with the idea to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally get it. The record includes all the email servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and when its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the message won't be sent and it will be removed. Whenever you employ this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam messages which appear to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our modern Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to pick one of your domains from a drop-down list and then type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send emails from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the messages to be sent from your domain only when it includes our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not a third-party supplier. This solution gives you the highest degree of protection, but it's not applicable if only your site is on our servers while the emails for the domain are managed somewhere else. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses risk-free from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to protect your email addresses by enabling the SPF security service for any domain hosted in your account with just a few clicks. You can do this from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous practical experience with these kinds of issues, you won't have any kind of troubles to activate the protection. The only things that you will need to do is to choose a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the new record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be sent globally only if they are sent from that server. When your e-mail addresses are handled by our company and not by some third-party supplier, you'll also be able to activate an option for email messages to be mailed only if the domain includes our MX records and the aforementioned is the safest option. When you have any kind of questions about thisfeature, you will be able to get in touch with our technical support team 24/7.
