When you register a domain name, you are required to give an authentic street address, email and phone in accordance with the policy adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. This info, however, is not kept only by the domain registrar, but is visible to the general public on WHOIS lookup websites too, so anyone can see your information and many people may not be OK with that fact. As a consequence, a lot of domain registrars have introduced the so-called ID Protection service, which hides the domain registrant’s contact details and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will see the details of the registrar, not those of the domain owner. This service is also known as Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection, but all these terms refer to the exact same service. As of now, most of the top-level domain names around the world allow ID Protection to be enabled, but there are still country-specific extensions that don’t support the service.

ID Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting plan from us, you will be able to enable ID Protection for any of your domain names provided that their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain and enable ID Protection upon signup or you can activate the service for any of your domains at any moment later via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The process is incredibly easy – after you log in, you will need to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll see a list of all the domain names that you have registered through us. For each one of them you’ll notice an “ID Protect” sign, which will show you if the service is enabled or not. By clicking it, you can either ID-protect the domain, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently activated.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you decide to order a semi-dedicated server package from our company, you’ll be able to add ID Protection to any of your domains by following a couple of easy steps. In case you order a registration or a transfer during the account order process, you can get the service along with the domain name. If you skip this step and you change your mind later, you can enable the ID Protection service from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you can administer the whole semi-dedicated server account. This is also the place where you can enable ID Protection for all other domain names that you register with our company after signup. Renewing or removing the service is just as easy and will take only several clicks of the mouse.
