FTP (short for File Transfer Protocol), is the most famous method of transferring files to a web hosting account. Using an FTP software app that’s pre-installed on your desktop computer or laptop, you can establish a connection to your website hosting server and copy all of the files that you need with several clicks. You can do this via a simple-to-navigate GUI and it is as simple as dragging and dropping the aforementioned files. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you’ll be able to create different accounts, each one with a different level of access to your server space, so if you need to grant someone access, for instance – a designer, they’ll be able to connect only to one particular folder and won’t be able to view the rest of your content or any other information, including private details. Three prerequisites are necessary in order to be able to connect via FTP – a hostname, which is usually a domain or an IP, a username and a password.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting

You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you wish with any of the shared hosting plans offered by us, since we’ve chosen not to limit this feature. In this way, you can run multiple Internet sites at the same time or grant other individuals access to separate folders. As soon as a certain task has been accomplished and you would not like that person to be able to connect to your web files anymore, you can change the password for the specific FTP account or you can just remove that account with several mouse clicks and quit worrying about somebody connecting to it once again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared plans, will allow you to see the full list of the existing FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes just one single click to manage different options for any of them – to edit the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to set up a separate FTP account for each of them, as we have not put a limit on this functionality with any of our semi-dedicated plans. You can do this via the FTP section of our easy-to-work-with Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also view the complete list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, together with the folder that each one of them can connect to. If needed, you’ll be able to modify the password for a particular account or to modify its access path with several mouse clicks. You can also remove an account without effort in case you do not need it any longer – for instance, if you have hired a web developer who’s finished with the website and you do not want them to be able to access your files any longer. For convenience’s sake, we’ve made different tutorial videos, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without effort if you’ve never used a hosting package previously.
